You won't find a stronger tennis program in upstate New York. Bill MacArthur, USPTR Coach.
Our Tennis Program is perfect for the child serious about learning to play tennis as well as the junior athlete looking to improve his or her game. Many campers choose GRAND SLAM ACADEMY over other tennis camps because of the quality of our program and the advantage of having the opportunity to play tennis full time, including match play, match play analysis, arranged ladder matches, daily video sessions and much more!!
Bill MacArthur, camp director, is a USPTR certified pro, and had been ranked among the top 45 and over tournament players in the state.
d
upon our experience that teaching with fun is the best way for kids to
learn. When campers arrive at the center they are evaluated and placed
in one of three ability levels and assigned to a class which is never larger
than 6 campers to 1 instructor. In addition to the pro, the camper is also
given further attention and instruction by our interns, who are among the
top junior tournament players in the Capital District. This ensures that
everyone is learning in a supportive group for the maximum learning experience.
Beginner Program: Level 1 instruction concentrates upon on-court stroke analysis, drill and play situations, corrective techniques, and daily video taping.
Intermediate Program: Level 2 is for the intermediate player who is ready to make the transition between lessons and competitive tennis. Participants will be instructed in singles and doubles play strategies. Emphasis is placed on drills designed to improve stroke mechanics, reflexes, anticipation and footwork.
Advance Program: Level 3 focuses on drilling to enhance and groove strokes.
The improvement of mental toughness is also stressed for better match play,
footwork and anticipation.
